How to Remove Tough Stains on Wood Fireplace Doors

Even when using the appropriate wood glass cleaner, every once in a while you will run into a tough soot stain that just isn’t cleaning off no matter how much cleaner you use or elbow grease you put into it.

Well, Top Hat has an expert tip to get those tough stains off! First, locate the spot on the glass and spray it with the appropriate wood glass cleaner. Then you will also spray it on the rag you are using and get it nice and wet. Finally dip your rag into the ashes in the bottom of your fireplace, a little bit of ash goes a long way.

Once you’ve got your ash rag ready, using a little bit of grit, not enough to scratch the glass but something you can scrub with, the soot stain basically melts right off! When you have removed all of the soot stain, it’s just a matter of going over the glass with one more clean piece of paper towel, just to get off some of the ash that was left over from your rag and you are set with a perfectly clean wood stove, insert or fireplace glass!
